Marie Szczyglowski, PTA
Owner/ Physical Therapist Assistant
Cardinal Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation is locally owned and operated by Marie Szczyglowski. Marie has been in the therapy field since 1996. She graduated from Kent State University in 1999 with a Physical Therapy Assistant degree.
After spending 12 years in the outpatient physical therapy arena with a strong emphasis in operational management, Marie made the decision to marry her clinical and operational knowledge to develop a new leader in outpatient therapy: Cardinal Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.
In January 2012, Cardinal Physical Therapy opened its first patient care facility in Chesterland, Ohio. Marie chose the Chesterland area so she could make a difference in this and surrounding communities where her own family resides.
Dr. Jennie Avsec, PT, DPT
Dr. Avsec completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Walsh University. Dr. Avsec's clinical rotations had a heavy emphasis in manual therapy which she has transitioned into the clinic.
Dr. Avsec enjoys working with a variety of orthopedic patients of all ranges, as well as specializing in a variety of pediatric conditions. She believes that patient education, maintaining a healthy patient/therapist relationship, and treating the patient as a whole is essential to the quality of care.
Dr. Avsec’s goal for every patient is independence, learning how to maintain optimal function, and to decrease the risk of future pain and injury.
Dr. Chelsea Costello, PT, DPT
Chelsea is a Doctor of Physical Therapy at Cardinal Physical Therapy. Chelsea received her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2015 from the State University of New York at Fredonia. Chelsea then went on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2019 from Trine University in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Chelsea’s true passion lies in outpatient orthopedics—treating athletic injuries, post-operative care, and work-related injuries. Chelsea believes that building meaningful rapport while providing quality care to each patient is the perfect combination for successful rehabilitation. Chelsea currently works alongside senior DPT, Jennie Avsec, and is growing her manual therapy techniques with hopes of also becoming certified in Graston Technique.
Chelsea hopes to promote lasting functional movements for each patient to improve their overall quality of life. Outside of work, Chelsea enjoys taking Peloton classes, attending Cleveland sporting events, and walking her very cute dog, Delly.
